Vasantrao Naik Merit Awards to the VJNT Students 2023

The scheme is called Vasantrao Naik Merit Awards, which are being rewarded to VJNT students who ranked First in State or First in the Board of 10th and 12th Standard Examination. It falls under the Beneficiary Category of V.J.N.T Education.

The purpose of the scheme

  • Is to motivate and promote VJNT students for Higher Education.
  • It provides financial assistance for education.
  •  Creates a passion for higher education amongst students who are not financially able.
  • Provides students with the opportunity to follow the path of education.
  • Scholarship schemes avoid transparency, coordination and delay.
  • Benefits of Tuition Fees, Exam Fees and Maintenance Allowance are explicitly covered for VJNT category students.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The Students should belong to the VJNT category.
  2. Students should rank FIRST in State, or FIRST in 10th or 12th Board Examination.
  3. First Boy and First Girl Student who belongs to VJNT category & has secured the first position in state or board both are eligible for Award.
  4. Guardian’s Income should be less than or equal to Rs.1.00 Lac a year.
  5. Applicants should belong to the VJNT category.
  6. Applicants must be residing in Maharashtra.
  7. Applicants should be pursuing the education courses approved by the government Post-Matric.
  8. Maintenance allowance & Exam Fees shall be covered if Applicant gets promoted to a higher class.
  9. If Applicants fails in a particular year, then he/she will get the Tuition Fees and allowances of that particular academic year, but he/she shall not get the benefit unless they get promoted to the next higher class.
  10. Applicants should come through the C.A.P. round for professional courses.
  11. No number of girl applicants are allowed. However, boy applicants a maximum of 2 of the same parent of the same parents are eligible for the Scholarship.
  12. At least 75% attendance is mandatory for the running year.
  13. The Applicant will be eligible for a Scholarship if they change the course from Non – Professional to Professional, but they shall not be eligible if the change is from Professional to Non – Professional.
  14. Scholarships will continue until Applicant completes a course. E.g. 11th, 12th Arts – B.A., M.A., M.Phil., P.H.D. etc. If, Applicant completed B.A. and B.Ed. Course and later takes admission in M.A. course he/she will not be allowed for scholarship. But post admission in M.B.A. after B.Ed. shall be eligible for scholarship.
  15. An applicant pursuing a particular professional/Non-Professional course, and availing benefits of the scholarship for that academic course if happens to change his/her existing course in between academic years he/she will not be eligible for the free Scholarship for further course.

  1. Award of Rs. 1.00 lakh, trophy and Certificate for Boy and Girl Student who stood First in State in S.S.C. Exam.
  2. Award of Rs. 0.51 lakh trophy and Certificate for Boy and Girl Student who stood First in each Board in S.S.C. Exam.
  3. Award of Rs. 1.00 lakh trophy and Certificate for Boy and Girl Student who stood First in State in H.S.C. Exam.
  4. Award of Rs. 0.51 lakh trophy and Certificate for Boy and Girl Student who stood First in each Board in H.S.C. Exam.
  5. If Applicant select Course Group A –425/p.m. (Hostlers)Day Scholars (Non-Hostlers) Rs.190/p.m. (From – Admission date to till exam completion date)
  6. If Applicant select Course Group B –290/p.m. (for hostlers) & Day Scholars (Non-Hostlers) Rs.190/p.m. (From Admission date to till exam completion date)
  7. If Applicant select Course Group C –290/p.m. (for hostlers) & Day Scholars (Non-Hostlers) Rs.190/p.m. (From Admission date to till exam completion date)
  8. If Applicant select Course Group D –230/p.m. (for hostlers) & Day Scholars (Non-Hostlers) Rs.120/p.m. (From Admission date to till exam completion date)
  9. If Applicant select Course Group E –150/p.m. (for hostlers) & Day Scholars (Non-Hostlers) Rs.90/p.m. (From Admission date to till exam completion date)
  10. Tuition Fees and Maintenance allowance are fully covered for applicants who have got in government/aided/non aided institutions.
  11. In case of admission to a Government hostel, then he/she will be eligible for 1/3rd amount of hostlers.
  12. For courses like B.Ed. and D.Ed.: 100 % benefit and full coverage of Tuition Fees, Exam Fees and Maintenance Allowance. For Students who have got in Aided, Unaided for D.Ed., B.Ed. courses, then Fee structure is applicable as per Government fee structures.

In case of applicants takes an admission on or before the 20th of any month, the maintenance allowance shall be issued for that current month. Otherwise, maintenance allowance will be entitled from next month.

Renewal Policy for Vasantrao Naik Merit Awards

  1. Applicants have to succeed in passing the previous year’s examination.
  2. If an applicant of VJNT fails to pass a year, then they are not eligible for any reimbursement for that year.
  3. For Group A – If an applicant pursuing a certain course fails to pass an examination for the first time, the award may be renewed. There shall be no renewal for second or subsequent failure. In that case, the Applicant has to bear their own expenses they secure promotion to the next class.
  4. For Group B, C, D, E – Applicants have to secure promotion to higher class (In case of second & subsequent failure in any class, the Applicant shall bear their own expenses until they secure a promotion to a higher class.)
  5. If the Applicant cannot appear in the annual examination due to any medical condition or due to any unforeseeable event, the headmaster of the college needs to sign an approval. There should be mentioned the given reason for the absence from the exam, and if he/she had passed the exam in case, they would have taken it. This shall be only considered if the head of the institution is satisfied by the Applicant’s performance throughout the year. A recognized medical or accidental proof will be required.
