Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, on Friday, said that the collegium system, which involves the recommendation of names for transfers/ appointments of judges, is ‘alien to the Constitution of India’. Rijiju said that the collegium system needs to be replaced by a better system; but as long as it is prevailing, the government is committed to respecting it.
