As many as 962 cases against MPs and MLAs have remained undecided for over five years, a report submitted in SC by amicus curiae Vijay Hansaria has revealed. The report has been filed in a plea seeking life ban on convicted politicians.
The report has been prepared based on information received from 16 high courts. However, high courts of UP, Rajasthan, Bihar, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are yet to share the details of cases pending against legislators.
Hansaria has urged SC to direct courts dealing with such cases to try them exclusively. SC indicated that the case might be taken up next week.
